“With harvest finishing up, now is a perfect time to go over seed with your Federated Agronomist,” said Carson Schoening, Federated ag sales rep out of Ogilvie.

Yields from the varieties planted in 2024 are clear indication of performance, an excellent starting point when planning next year’s seed.

“We have a wide variety of options when it comes to brands of seed,” said Schoening. Federated sells seed from six different brands: Dekalb®/Asgrow®, NK®, Brevant®, Legend®/IMPACT, Croplan®, and Renk. “All six have standout varieties to place across all acres,” he said.

Data gathered in Federated’s Discovery Plots and Croplan’s Answer Plots® provided a wealth of information. Schoening said, “Dekalb had another good showing [in the plots} … a couple of notable varieties included DKC 096-21TRE, 92-14 VT2P, and 101-35 VT2P. There were also standout products within the other brands as well, including NK 9231, Brevant B91W35AM, and Croplan 3330 VT2P.”

He continued, “On the soybean side there were a handful of varieties that performed well across all of our Discovery Plots, including Croplan 1525Es, NK 15-G9E3s, NK 11-A4E3s, and Impact 16E435Ns.”

Your Federated Agronomist is ready to help with recommendations for your crop management plan – and your farm’s various soils.

Schoening noted the annual concern over seed supply, and thus, he recommended seed orders sooner than later. The best seed options, including seed size, are available early on.

Additionally, you can take full advantage of seed discounts with early ordering.

Again, talk to your Federated Agronomist to make all of your 2025 seed plans.
