Fungicides on Corn Too
Jun 13, 2023
Fungicides aren’t just for soybeans – your corn crop will benefit from fungicide applications that “keep plants healthier longer, keep disease at bay under stress, and preserve yield,” said Matt Kurtz, Federated’s Rush City location manager.
“Miravis® Neo is a multi-crop fungicide that has a wide array of activity on many common and tough-to-control crop diseases,” he said. Syngenta’s product offers “broad-spectrum disease control and plant-health benefits.”
In corn, Miravis Neo is Federated’s recommended option prior to tassel (VT) to protect corn from tar spot and other fungi at a use rate of 13.7 oz./ac.
(Tar spot is a corn disease that has spread dramatically since its first identification in the U.S. in 2015, according to the University of Minnesota Extension.)
“In soybeans, Miravis Neo helps control white mold, anthracnose, brown leaf spot, etc.,” said Kurtz. The use rate is 13.7–20.8 oz./ac. and the application window is R1-R3. “And for the best white mold suppression,” he said, make two applications, two weeks apart.
