Communicate Propane Needs as Harvest Nears

plan propane needs for corn drying soon
As harvest plans take shape, it’s time to determine options for drying with propane. A key consideration is communicating needs in advance of need.

According to Mark Grave, Federated’s propane manager, in addition to Federated’s own rail unloading facility in Cambridge, there are five propane supply points during dryer season “to provide reliable supply.”

Although “nationwide propane inventories are near record highs for this point in the year,” he said, it is still a struggle to get the propane where it is needed fast enough. Thus the need for early and frequent communication between growers and Federated.

Federated is prepared to ramp up transportation to meet grower needs. Graves said, “We ask that you communicate your harvest plans to assist us” in that process.

As for pricing, the “energy markets took a dip early summer but are crawling their way back up,” he said. Get your propane orders in soon. Call Federated Co-ops.
